Pittsburgh, PA / IAM Robotics / January 24, 2017/  IAM Robotics announced that its been selected into the Logistics Tech Accelerator’s second cohort of startups. The 10 selected startups will join RocketSpace and Kaleido, along with corporate collaborators: Fiege, Ingram Micro, Lufthansa Cargo and MAN Truck & Bus, to rethink logistics. The Logistics Tech Accelerator uses an open innovation, pilot-led model to draw from the diverse expertise of multiple corporate collaborators, startups and industry mentors.

IAM Robotics was selected from a large applicant pool of startups representing emerging tech themes including smart warehouse, smart transport and smart commerce/trade. Among other benefits, startups will gain brand exposure and be able to validate their product in collaboration with multiple industry corporations. This non-traditional accelerator model includes pilot testing and is structured to progress beyond a proof of concept to a commercially viable product.

IAM Robotics will be the only hardware company chosen for this year’s cohort in Vigo, Spain. The CEO Tom Galluzzo says, “ We have been looking for a way for us to bridge the gap into the European market, that’s why this will be a great opportunity for us to gain exposure and help build traction in that market.”

“The next generation of logistics startups are revolutionizing the way goods move around the world to meet consumers’ on-demand lifestyles,” said Duncan Logan, founder and CEO of RocketSpace. “We welcome IAM Robotics to the Logistics Tech Accelerator and challenge its team to take advantage of the diverse group of participants and ideas to scale their business and make their product vision a reality.”

“After a fantastic Cohort I experience full of fascinating challenges, we are looking forward to working together with the selected startups to keep on disrupting the industry,” said Xoán Martínez, Kaleido CEO. “Stunning technologies ready to go to market and the incorporation of new corporate collaborators to the program are giving us all the chance to open a new stage of logistics.”

Next week, IAM Robotics will start a four-week curriculum exploring the key business objectives and roadmaps of the corporate program collaborators. Following the curriculum phase, the startups and corporate collaborators will hold one-on-one meetings to create individual pilot scopes and launch into the product validation stage of the program. The program will wrap up with a final public demo day in May, where participants will unveil a go-to-market solution.
